The Centre is rated as exceeding in the National Quality Standard, boasting a range of exciting, resource-rich environments – including herb and vegetable gardens, a worm farm, and natural play structures where children explore and learn each day.

Being located in a business district you’d be forgiven for assuming the Centre is tight on space – but that’s simply not the case. Guardian Walker Street is a light-filled Centre, home to a spacious outdoor area – including alfresco dining for the children, a stage, an obstacle course, and troughs for water play in the warmer months.

The Team at Guardian Walker Street use the family communication app StoryPark to stay connected and ensure families are kept up-to-date about what’s happening in the Centre and what the children have been doing throughout the day. This ongoing partnership promotes continuity of learning.

Our community-minded Educators also organise family dinners on a Friday evening, which is another key part of our partnership with families. We are a true home-away-from home.

Children and families also have the added benefit of a Preschool Program led by quality teachers who are there to help prepare your child for the exciting transition to school.

At Guardian Walker Street our children are excited to get out and about on regular excursions into the local community, visiting locations such as our local library, post office and grocery store.

Our dedicated on-site cooks prepare five nutritionally balanced meals using seasonal ingredients every day, and our Educators host regular hands-on cooking classes for the children to enhance their understanding of nutrition.

Rhythm of The Day

With endless possibilities, there’s never a dull moment at Guardian and no two days are the same. Here’s what a day at Guardian might look like. Please note, this will vary depending on centre opening hours.

  • From 7:00am

    Handover time with children, families and our friendly Educators. There’s a chance to share what’s important for the day and any news from home.

  • From 7:00am

    Breakfast time where families are welcome to stay and enjoy breakfast with the children.

  • Morning

    An opportunity to play and discover with open-plan play in family groups and multi-age groupings.

  • Morning

    Planned experiences. This is where the Guardian difference comes to life. Alongside our Educators your child’s exploration leads to learnings in numeracy, literacy, language, critical thinking, problem solving, leadership, social skills, technology, creative arts and much more.

  • Morning tea

    An opportunity for children to come together for a healthy snack, often they help prepare their food alongside our carers and chef.

  • Mid-morning

    Individually tailored to your child’s needs and curiosity the planned experiences continue, this includes both indoor and outdoor programs.

  • Lunch

    Another nutritious meal expertly prepared by our chef. Families are invited to join the children for meals and excursions if they wish.

  • Afternoon

    If your child wants to, or needs to sleep, it’s time to rest and recharge. For children who don’t need to rest the planned experiences continue, in most cases outdoors.

  • Afternoon tea

    Another chance for the children to come together and re-fuel in small groups or with siblings. There is also an opportunity to rest or play together and reflect on the day.

  • Pick-up

    As you arrive to pick up your child, there’s a chance to speak with our Educators and share news about the day. Our Storypark App also allows you to stay in touch 24/7 wherever you are.

  • End of day

    Your child is encouraged to grab a light snack before they leave the centre. We’re mindful of how routines vary, throughout the day if we notice your child looking tired food will be provided.

Our team of Educators are committed and passionate about ensuring your child will be safe, nurtured and cared for every day. At Guardian, children are encouraged to engage in interest-led play that creates learning and meaningful experiences.

Our Educators seek to optimise diverse learning opportunities and implement the Curriculum as framed by the Early Years Learning Framework.

You and Your Child

All Guardian Centres provide a Centre-to-Family communication platform so families can maintain contact with their children’s experiences through photos, stories and learning outcomes.

Our Centres use Storypark and each family is provided with a secure login to access on their computers, mobiles or apps.

Guardian Childcare & Education Walker Street offers the warmth and comfort of a family home. Our purpose-built outdoor space is accessible from every classroom, and has plenty of room in which to run, ride and explore. The children love playing outside with friends of different ages, or with their brothers and sisters. We also have a quiet decking space for babies to safely explore the world alongside the older children, which helps to develop their social interaction skills.

We have many budding artists in our care, making our art studio a hub of activity! We believe in embracing our children’s interests and encourage creative expression, whether that’s individually or collaboratively. Project-based learning allows children to extend their knowledge and abilities in both small and large groups.

Our Educators are friendly and approachable, and go out of their way to build strong relationships with families before their child even begins with us. We offer tours of our centre to become familiar with our Educators and the environment, and an orientation program to ensure you are comfortable and confident to leave your child with us. Once in our care you are welcome to drop by and play alongside your child any time, and to discuss their progress with our Educators. We also offer monthly meetings in which we can reassess shared goals for your child.

Our children love cooking, and often bake cupcakes to raise money for the Starlight Foundation. Our wonderful on-site cooks prepares nutritious and delicious daily meals that cater to the fussiest of eaters. Breakfast starts at 7:00am and is a great opportunity to spend time with your child, our Educators and other families before we begin our busy day.
