Guardian Childcare & Education East Ivanhoe is rated as exceeding in the National Quality Standard. Located 10km north-east of the Melbourne CBD, Guardian East Ivanhoe is also a convenient choice for families living in bordering suburbs, including Heidelberg, Eaglemont, Alphington and Kew.

The Centre boasts a range of resource-rich environments including a spacious outdoor area, a covered deck, natural play structures and a range of age-specific play areas. As part of the Guardian East Ivanhoe sustainability program, the Centre also has vegetable gardens, a worm farm and an active recycling program with the Richmond Exchange.

The team of professionally-certified early childhood Educators and Teachers at Guardian East Ivanhoe deliver a play-based and nature-inspired curriculum, as well as a leading Kindergarten Program to help prepare your child for the exciting transition to school.

We are proud to have such a culturally diverse team, and celebrate a variety of cultural events and holidays throughout the year. As part of our strong community focus, the Kindergarten children also participate in a bush kinder program every Friday.

At Guardian East Ivanhoe we have a dedicated on-site chef who prepares five nutritious and delicious meals and snacks every day. The children also have the opportunity to participate in hands-on cooking experiences to enhance their understanding of good nutrition and encourage them to try new foods and flavours.

You and Your Child

All Guardian Centres provide a Centre-to-Family communication platform so families can maintain contact with their children’s experiences through photos, stories and learning outcomes.

Our Centres use Storypark and each family is provided with a secure login to access on their computers, mobiles or apps.

Guardian East Ivanhoe is rated as exceeding the National Quality Standard (NQS) for Childcare. An Exceeding rating means the service is performing above and beyond the requirements of the NQS. The three Exceeding NQS themes are used to determine if approved education and care services exceed each of the fifteen NQS quality standards – the three Themes include ‘Embedded in service operations’, ‘Informed by critical reflection’ and ‘Shaped by meaningful engagement with families and/or the community., 

Services must demonstrate these themes in practice for a standard to be rated as Exceeding NQS. In addition, there are seven Quality Areas. To be rated Exceeding NQS overall, all Quality Areas must be at least Meeting NQS, and four or more Quality Areas must be Exceeding NQS, with at least two of these being Quality Areas 1, 5, 6 or 7. The Quality Areas are:

  1. Staffing arrangements
