Guardian Childcare & Education Kew East

Guardian Childcare & Education Kew East is one of more than 40 state-of-the-art Guardian Childcare Centres in Victoria. Located only 8km from the Melbourne CBD, it is a convenient choice for local families needing care close to home or on their way to the city for work. With easy drop off and pick up in the morning and evenings, Guardian Kew East makes life a little easier for families juggling the day-to-day commitments of life with a young family.

With a range of exciting, resource-rich environments – including two spacious indoor/outdoor play areas, Guardian Kew East is bursting with opportunities for children to play and learn. In this light-filled urban oasis, there are herb and vegetable gardens, a trough for water play, a sandpit, a two-tier bridge, wooden play structures and two levels of open-plan spaces where our programs come to life.

Our team of professionally-certified early childhood educators and teachers deliver an advanced play-based and nature-inspired curriculum, as well as a leading Kindergarten Program to help prepare your child for the exciting transition to school.

Children also have the chance to get out and about on weekly excursions, so we have a great connection with the surrounding community. We visit locations such as local cafes, parks and the high street. The children also love visiting our local fruit supplier and picking out produce to use in meals, prepared by a dedicated on-site cook.

Our cook prepares all meals fresh each day in the Centre kitchen, where children also participate in frequent hands-on cooking classes that extend their knowledge of good nutrition. The children and Educators also often collect herbs and vegetables from the Centre’s gardens to add to the daily meals and use in their cooking classes.

What are you most excited about working with children on/teaching children about and why?

“Most of the excitement about working with children for me is the care aspect of what we do. Building bonds and relationships with children and their families is so special to me. I also love watching the children explore, learn and make connections both with people and with their development. I think people often underestimate children and their abilities, so I love showing families and Educators what the children are capable of and how important the process of that learning is, rather than the end product.”

At Guardian Kew East The children also have the opportunity to participate in our regular Out and About Program, which with the luxury of our Octopram, means children of all ages can be a part of these exciting excursions. The children make regular visits to build on our connection to our local community to places such as the local fruit shop, local cafes, local parks and travelling on the tram to The Kew Library.

At Guardian Kew East we prioritise working with families, not just children because we understand that a true family childcare service should focus on childhood education as well as connecting your young ones to the community and preparing them for school. We value the role of families as a child’s first teacher and we’re committed to developing trusting relationships by listening and responding to families about all aspects of their child’s learning and development. So, our approach is focused on the latest research and insights into how children learn best, and the specific skills they will need to thrive in the 21st Century.

With extended standard hours and a goal to create the best educational programs for children in the country, we’re here for you during those crucial Kindergarten years.

We also offer a number of additional benefits for busy families, such as:

  • Designated drop off and pick up zones to assist with those busy mornings and afternoons.
  • Casual care days where possible.
  • Assisting you with government subsidies and entitlements to help you make the most of the financial support which may be available
  • Our family communication app StoryPark to keep you informed throughout the day.
  • We hold parent and educator sessions to keep you informed of your child’s individual progress.
